“We need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet… I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things… all of it, all the time, every day. You’re saying ‘You’re life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness.” – Shall We Dance?

Last night I reunited with some of my closest friends, and the gravity of their meaningfulness really sank in. It wasn’t even that we had some emotionally deep conversation to trigger my appreciation; in fact, most of our conversations were stupid and crazy. But that was the point: it was such blessing having people to be that crazy with!
It affirmed that my choice to make time for them was SO WORTH IT. Although we’ve ventured into different walks of life, we find ways to reunite — even if it has to be in the wee hours of the morning to accommodate our busy schedules. Somehow we MAKE IT HAPPEN.
THE POINT?
So I guess the point here is to APPRECIATE the friendships you have & to never take them for granted.
Take time to appreciate those who have stuck around for all these years, who have witnessed you change but still embraced you all the same. Appreciate those who have walked with you, and at times carried you, through different stages of life. Appreciate those who held on for youwhen didn’t have the strength to do it yourself. Appreciate those who witnessed your life without judgment, yet weren’t afraid to be honest with you for the sake of your well-being. Appreciate those who supported you and challenged you to be all you could become.
From the deep talks about challenges, hopes, fears, and dreams, to the hilarious inside jokes that no one else will ever understand, BE THANKFUL … for those friendships are truly blessings.
